Students & Family Resources
Whether you’re new to our school or a longtime Bearden High School family, we want to provide the resources you need to achieve success.
This is a central hub for students and families to easily access information for navigating the school and school day, including enrollment, student handbooks, information about schedules, extra curricular activities, and more!

Enrollment
Bearden High School serves students in 9th-12th grades.
Students who are zoned for Bearden and attended a Knox County middle school for 8th grade are automatically enrolled.
Enrollment for students who are new to the district must be completed in person by a parent or legal guardian. Check in at the main West Mall Office to be directed to the Counseling Office.

Daily Schedule
At Bearden High, the school day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. on regular school days.
On Late Start Wednesdays, the first bell rings at 8:43 a.m., and classes begin at 8:50 a.m. All students should report to the Cafeteria or West Mall. Silent Study Hall is offered in the Library for students who wish to study. There is no 45 on Late Start Wednesdays. Dismissal is still 3:30 p.m.
Please note that we will NOT have late start/study hall on the four district half-days. If KCS announces a 1- or 2-hour delay, late start/study hall Wednesday will be canceled.
Students must attend for at least 3.5 hours to be counted present for the day.

Academics
Bearden High School follows the district’s 865 Academies model.
Ninth-grade students learn within the Freshman Academy, building a strong foundation for high school success.
In 10th grade, students join one of our three career-themed academies:
- Business, Leadership, and Communication (BLC);
- Health and Human Science and Services (H2S2); or
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and the Arts (STEM-A).
Students will take classes in their academy through a chosen academic pathway, ensuring their learning is connected to real-world skills and future opportunities.

Student Supports
The entire staff of Bearden High School is committed to creating an atmosphere in which students will feel safe, secure, and valued. We are committed to maximizing their opportunities to learn and achieve in order to prepare students for life after high school.
Professional school counselors and social works encourage all students' academic, career, and personal/social/development and help in maximizing achievement for all students.

Athletics, Clubs, and Arts
Learning doesn't stop when the school day ends. Bearden High offers a wide variety of after-school and extracurricular activities—including athletics, clubs, and performing/visual arts—that give students the chance to build new skills, connect with peers, and explore personal interests.

Library / Media Center
Our library is a busy hub for student learning, reading, and discovery. Students can visit during class time with a pass from their teacher to check out books, print from our public computers, get help with a Chromebook, and more.
In addition to the school library, teachers may maintain individual collections of age-appropriate books in their classrooms to support literacy and foster a love of reading.
Support Organizations
Bearden High School is supported by a strong network of parent and community organizations through the PTSO and Bearden High School Foundation, groups that are dedicated to supporting teachers and students by raising funds to strengthen academics, athletics, and the arts.
