New process in place for 2010 transfer applications
Transfer application window for students is Feb. 1 - 15
The Knox County Schools general transfer window for students for 2010 will be Monday, Feb. 1 through the close of business on Monday, Feb. 15. Projected available openings are determined based on the Knox County Schools budget allocation model that includes enrollment projections for all schools and grades. Application for Student Transfer will be available February 1-15. All verified applications will be electronically assigned a number using a lottery-style process. School assignments will be made in the order of the assigned numbers within certain priorities.

School Announcements
End of Grading Period this Friday
The end of the 4 1/2 week grading period for this term will be Friday, February 5. The parent portal should reflect all grades for this grading period by Tuesday, February 9 afternoon. Students will receive their grade printouts in advisory on Thursday, February 11.
Urgent Need for All Blood Types!
MEDIC will be at Bearden High School on Friday, February 26 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in the Hall of Memories. Please give the gift of life!
Winter Jam Concert for Food for Kids
SGA is hosting a Winter Jam Concert on Friday, February 19 from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. in the BHS Auditorium. ALL proceeds will go to Food for Kids.

The basketball games scheduled with West on January 8 have been rescheduled to Thursday, February 11 with the following times:

Talent Show Auditions SOON!
The annual BHS Talent Show needs you! Auditions will be held on Thursday, February 11 from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the chorus room. Come by and sign up on the chorus room door.
ATTENTION Fall 11 AP Language and Composition Students
You should receive a letter about registering for the AP test. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 19.

AUDITIONS for Advanced Acting, Musical Theatre, and Stage Tech Interviews
Information packets will be available on Monday, February 22 in Room 302. There will be a workshop available to help prep students for Advanced Acting and Musical Theatre auditions on Friday, March 19 after school. Auditions and interviews will be held on the following days:
- Stage Tech Interviews on Thursday, March 18
- Musical Theatre on Monday, March, 22
- Advanced Acting on Wednesday, March 24
Financial Aid Workshop
Unable to attend the Financial Aid workshop on January 21 by Dr. Tim Woods of UT Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships?--Go to the BHS GUidance page, scroll down to Group Files, to the Financial Aid Information folder, and click to view his powerpoint presentation. It has a lot of timely information.
Need help filling out the FAFSA for the HOPE Scholarship and other financial aid eligibility?
If you are a Tennessee resident who could qualify for admission to a college, university, career or technical school, and you need financial aid and help filling our the FAFSA, then College Goal Sunday is for you. All students and parents are welcome to attend on Sunday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the following Knoxville locations: Pellissippi State, Johnson Bible College, and C.W. Cansler YMCA. For information on what to bring, please go to www.tn.gov/collegegoalsunday or pick up a brochure in the BHS Guidance Office. Many scholarships have a March 1 deadline for FAFSA to be completed.
Congratulations to Bearden Swim and Dive Teams!
In the Knoxville City meet competition this past Friday and Saturday, the BHS Aquadogs placed first in the overall competition, with four swimmers being double 1st place winners. The BHS Dive team also placed first in the overall competition. Congratulations, BHS Swim and Dive teams, and good luck at the state meet in Nashville on February 12 and 13.
